Compare dates — questions
Sometimes you want to know how a pair moved between two trip milestones — booking day vs departure, or last visit vs this year — without anchoring to today. This page answers: “How much would the same amount have bought on date A versus date B?”
Pick your currency pair and amount, then choose an earlier date (e.g. when you last travelled) and a later date (e.g. your upcoming trip). The result shows which day would have given you more target currency at mid-market rates — useful context, not a guarantee of future rates.
The home page compares one past exchange against today's rate — ideal after you have already swapped money. Compare dates looks only at two historical days, so you can study rate movement between them without involving the current market.
Frankfurter provides ECB reference rates on business days. If you choose a weekend or bank holiday, the API returns the nearest prior business day. Very old dates may be unavailable depending on the currency pair.
No. Figures are mid-market references for comparison only. Banks, ATMs, and bureau de change add their own margin and fees — your real receipt will differ. Use this page to understand relative movement, not exact cash-in-hand amounts.
